The Fiji Meat Industry Board was established and is governed by the Meat Industry Act 1969. In September 2005, the Board was designated a Commercial
Statutory Authority. Over many decades, the FMIB has acted to support the meat industry by acting as a wholesaler and retailer, purchasing from farmers across Fiji, then selling to retailers and conducting retail sales independently.
Our functions are to:
- Construct and operate public slaughtering facilities.
- Take steps for the expansion, preservation, and
protection of the meat industry in Fiji. - Deal, purchase, or trade in livestock, meat, and its
byproducts.
