Ministry of Agriculture
The Agriculture Sector remains the backbone of Fiji’s economy since independence. Hence, its impacts cuts across all sectors and individuals in our developing nation. As such, it is the overall mandate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Waterways and Sugar Industry to provide food and nutrition security, income and employment through a modernized and resilient agriculture sector.
Its services are demarcated and driven by the nine implementing divisions with service delivery offered via the Crop Extension Division, Crop Research Division, Animal Health & Production Division (AH&P), Waterways Division, Land Resource Planning and Development Division, Human Resources, Development and Services Division (HRDS), Economic Planning & Statistics Division (EP&S), Finance Division, and Executive Support Division.
Ministry of Finance
The Ministry of Finance, is responsible for providing efficient and effective economic and financial advice to Government including management of the national economy consistent with the Government’s macroeconomic and financial objectives.
Biosecurity Authority of Fiji
The Biosecurity Act 2008 is the primary legislation that provides for the regulation and control of the movement of animal and plants into, out of and within Fiji. Inherent in this primary legislation are the powers to give effect to the relevant conventions of the WTO, IPPC and OIE, the provision of land and buildings for quarantine purposes, and the power to make Regulations.
